We were presented with a challenge: a family home, ensconced New Orleans’ architectural history, but in need of modern rejuvenation.
We approached this home with a full understanding that its soul resided in its timeworn walls and echoing hallways. But we also recognized the family’s need for contemporary conveniences. In the bathrooms, our vision came alive in varied textures and materials. Where once there were old tiles and aging fixtures, we incorporated frameless glass enclosures and free-standing bathtubs resting on beautiful marble flooring.
The kitchen renovation maintained the philosophy of blending the old with the new. Retaining the home’s original high ceilings and expansive windows, we let the natural light flood into a space that now boasted state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, crisp quartz countertops, and streamlined, yet traditional, cabinetry. The kitchen island tied in modern delights through the use of a butcher block wood counter.
This beautiful renovation celebrated the art of modern living, but also paid homage to the historical elements of the home. It is a place we hope continues in the family for a very long time!
